Field Trip Ideas for Educational Places to Learn
One advantage of home schooling, is that class is not always at home.
I've included some field trip ideas of places you can take your children, so they can learn using their hands, feet, eyes and other senses. Books aren't the only place to learn, are they?
One day I brought my children to an arboretum (a place to learn about and see real trees). I told them this would be one of their classrooms. The next day, when I said it was time for school, my four year old, said "Mom, I thought you said this wasn't our class any more. The park is our classroom now isn't it?".
Is it time for you to expand your classroom too?
Why not check the lists below to see if you find any new ideas of places to go? The locations are categorized below by topic and region.

Give Us Your Ideas
Now -- we home schoolers could use your help. If you have an idea for a field trip location any where in the world that you think offers a learning potential, please tell us what and where it is, along with some personal comments (if you have any), about why your family enjoyed it, and what age group you think the place appeals to most. Tips on parking, eating meals and other practical matters would be appreciated by us all. As well, if you have already gone to any of the places already listed, and have comments about it,
send your field trip ideas and comments
to me, and I'll include them on the site.
