Field Trip Ideas to Learn About Trees
Neighbourhood parks and forests are a great place to practice your tree identification skills (not to mention climbing skills - if allowed).
An arboretum is a place that has many specimen trees, and usually includes signs identify the trees name (very helpful when you're practicing identifying and want to know if you're right.)
Champion trees are very old and large, and have usually shown some interesting genetics to last so long. Efforts are often made to make clones of these trees because of their qualities.

We could identify many of the trees in our area, but when we started trying to name all the trees, we were surprised how many we weren't sure about. OK - we didn't have a clue. No that's not true.
